• Windows developer Alex Gorbatchev just bought his first Mac.
The Toronto resident said he has long wanted to see how the other side lives, but the iMac was „too expensive a toy.”
„I’ve never had my hands on a Mac and I’m really curious to get my hands on one,” Gorbatchev said in an e-mail.

• Mike Davis, senior research analyst at Butler Group, says banks could be tempted to buy the machine as a low-cost, compact alternative to Windows computers or terminals from firms such as Wise.

• At a price point that is identical to higher-end iPod models, many iPod customers might be interested in the Mac mini not as a personal computer but as an extension of the iPod.

• I’m a pretty low-tech guy, and until last week, I had it all figured out for this story. The CD will be obsolete soon. Digital downloading will become the norm.

• In Japan, it is expected to retail at around 10,000 yen (US$98), about half the price of similar products sold by other manufacturers.
