According to reconsolidation theory, learning this second pattern <strong>should have disrupted the memory of the first one<\/strong>, acting as \u2018interference\u2019 to block reconsolidation of the first sequence.<\/p>\n<p>This is what Walker et al. found: they showed that on the third, \u2018test\u2019 day, the participants\u2019 ability to perform the first sequence was impaired. However, Hardwicke et al. couldn\u2019t confirm this.
